Foynes Flying Boat and Maritime Museum chronicles the lost romantic era between 1935 and 1945 – when the quaint and scenic village of Foynes became the epicenter of commercial aviation. All of the great and good in aviation were drawn to the beautiful Shannon Estuary, the last refuelling stop before taking on the might of the Atlantic.

The Museum is located in the original transatlantic terminal used during the f lying boat period – where Irish coffee was invented in 1943. The Museum Restaurant (O’ Regan’s) is named after one of Ireland’s great visionary thinkers, the late Dr. Brendan O’Regan, former Catering Comptroller at Foynes Flying Boat Base.
