Introducing the New “Tail of Foynes” Exhibit
The Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum unveiled a specially commissioned sculpture to celebrate Boeing’s 100th anniversary. Boeing is the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space, and security systems. It is, of course, also the company that produced the B314 Clipper flying boat.
The commission, entitled “Tail of Foynes,” is a 22-foot high steel sculpture. It features a tail of the iconic Boeing 747 aircraft. The piece was created by Irish sculptor Shane Holland, and is supported by Irelandia Aviation.
