Foynes island is situated off the Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum

If you arrive at Rosslare, take the N25 through Cork, then link with the N20 to Limerick and then take the N69 to Foynes.

If you arrive at Dublin Port or Dun Laoghaire, take the M50 around Dublin, turning off at southbound junction 7. Travel the M7 direct to Limerick. The M7 merges into the N18 at junction 30. Take exit 2 off the N18 (last junction before the Shannon Tunnel) and continue along the N69 to Foynes.

Unfortunately, flying boats no longer fly into Foynes. However, Shannon International Airport is nearby. Then, your trip by bus, car, or car hire into Limerick by the N18 and on to Foynes by the scenic N69 route is a total of 55km (35miles/50 minutes).

If you fly into Dublin Airport, take the M50 around Dublin, turning off at southbound junction 7. Travel the M7 direct to Limerick. The M7 merges into the N18 at junction 30. Take exit 2 off the N18 (last junction before the Shannon Tunnel) and continue along the N69 to Foynes.

If you fly into Cork Airport, travel around Cork on South Ring Road, through the Jack Lynch Tunnel, connect with the N20 to Limerick, and continue on to Foynes via the N69.

The Bus Eireann 314 route runs through Foynes. Bus Eireann is Ireland’s national bus company, offering regular services from Limerick. For more information, visit the Bus Eireann website

Foynes is in the west of County Limerick, approximately 35km (22miles/30 minutes) from Limerick City on the N69 route from Limerick to Tralee. If you are traveling from west Clare, you can use the Shannon Estuary car ferry operating regularly from Killimer in County Clare to Tarbert in County Kerry, just 20km (12.5 miles/20 minutes) from Foynes.
